Man charged with burglary, sex assault in Hazleton

HAZLETON - Police arrested a man on Wednesday on charges he forced his way inside a residence and sexually assaulted a woman on Nov. 7.

Lewis E. Crawley, 41, of East First Street, Hazleton, was charged with burglary, aggravated indecent assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, corruption of minors, criminal mischief and harassment. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.

Police allege Crawley forced open a rear door and entered the residence where he assaulted the woman. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on Nov. 18 before District Judge Joseph Zola in Hazleton.
