Hillside Farms hike, an informative hike at The Lands at Hillside Farms, 65 Hillside Road, Shavertown, sponsored by North Branch Land Trust 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 22. Learn the is history of Hillside Farms from a family owned business established in the late 1880s to the current non-profit, historic, and educational The Lands at Hillside Farms. Leaves for Little Learners, 10 a.m. Oct. 21, little ones, ages 3 to 5, and their grown-ups are invited to learn about leaves through hands-on activites, stories and a simple craft, in the classroom of the Patrick J. Solano Environmental Education Building, Frances Slocum State Park, Mt. Olivet Road, Kingston Township. 570-696-9105.

Golden Hawk Watch at Council Cup Overlook, meet by 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at the park office Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums, to carpool to hawk watch site. Leave at 10 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. This event is for senior citizens only. Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water and a lunch. Participants should be in good health and able to hike 2 miles over moderate terrain without difficulty. Pre-registration is necessary. Call 570-403-2006.

FUTURE

Last Footsteps of Fall, a walk with the park naturalist at Frances Slocum State Park, Mt. Olivet Road, Kingston Township. Meet at pavilion 3 at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 to wander along part of Lakeshore Trail looking for birds, animals and interesting plants along the way. 570-696-9105.

Birding at Frances Slocum, a leisurely walk through Frances Slocum State Park, 567 Mt. OLivet Rd., Kingston Township, with Bruce Troy from Wild Birds Unlimited. Fall is a great time for bird watching and enjoying nature while the leaves are falling from the trees. Meet in the parking lot of the the Environmental Education Center and boat rental. Tubs Natural Area, moderate 5 + 3 mile hike. Meet at the Sears Auto Center, Wyoming Valley Mall at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 3 and leave at noon. Bring snack and water. We will all hike the first 5 miles.
