Abington Heights Junior Comets cheerleaders practice for the fall
Girls on the A, B and C squads of the Abington Heights Junior Comets, ages 7 through 13 got in some practice for the 2008 fall football season on Friday, July 18. Two car collision in Clarks Summit
Friday morning, July 18, Clarks Summit resident Nicole Marie Sabo’s automobile collided with Madison Township resident Charles R. Bacinclli, while Sabo was turning onto South Main Street in Clarks Summit from Colburn Avenue, according to Chief Louis Vitale Jr.
Vitale, who was on the scene, said, “Sabo explained that she did not see Bacinclli coming down the street. After the hit, Bacinclli turned his car to the right to avoid oncoming traffic and was pushed forward by Sabo and up onto the curb in front of the (Clarks Summit) post office. Thankfully no one was hurt.”

South Abington Township hosts 13th annual Children's Fishing Derby
The South Abington Township Police and Maintenance Department held its 13th annual Children's Fishing Derby on Saturday, July 12 at the Lackawanna State Park in Dalton. Two hundred children attended, 800 hot dogs were cooked, 35 cases of soda were consumed. T-shirt sales resulted in $500 in proceeds which were donated to six-year-old leukemia patient Matthew Siegler. Winners of the "Big Fish" of the day prizes included Shannon Harding, 11, Glenburn; Kyla Lockez, 4, South Abington Twp.; George Schwartz, 12, Nicholson; Leona Peters, 9, Clarks Summit and Ryan Flynn, 7, South Abington Township.
