The meeting Monday allowed principals an opportunity to review what is a very fluid document, board members noted. Department heads will provide input at the next budget meeting.
Having already agreed to stand by state gaming money requirements, the board is only permitted to increase tax rates by an inflation adjusted index, and has already made that position clear, secretary Evelyn Evans noted before the meeting.
Members noted that preliminary numbers suggested the district could keep to a 4 percent increase, despite rises in health care costs and contractually obligated pay raises for staff.
