Local briefs: Boback gets study expanded

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Karen Boback, R-Harveys Lake, has secured passage of an amendment to expand the parameters of a study on the effects of violence in interactive video games on children to also include all other forms of media to which children are exposed.

Boback’s amendment to House Resolution 94 was unanimously approved by the House Children and Youth Committee. The resolution was unanimously approved by the House on Thursday.

The legislation will give the Joint State Government Commission the authority to begin the study. The resolution directs the committee to report its findings to the House within 180 days of its adoption.
