Police Blotter

SWOYERSVILLE – Police reported the following incidents in Swoyersville and Luzerne:

• Daryl Givens, of Poland Street, Swoyersville, reported Thursday someone threw eggs at his Delorean.

• Martha Mattern reported Tuesday someone smashed the rear window on her 2000 Saturn while it was parked on Jackson Street, Swoyersville.

• Charles Remaykis reported Thursday someone threw eggs at his 2007 Dodge Charger when it was parked on Milbre Street, Swoyersville.

KINGSTON – James Anthony Ellsworth, 21, of West Market Street, Kingston, was arrested early Friday morning on charges he assaulted a police officer.

Ellsworth was charged with obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were called to Ellsworth’s apartment for a noise complaint at about 4:25 a.m.

Ellsworth answered the door and told police he had been arguing with Joyal Banks, 32, in his apartment. Both began to scream at officers when told to keep quiet.

As Banks was being arrested, Ellsworth assaulted an officer, the criminal complaint says.

NANTICOKE – Police reported the following incidents:

• Tabitha Calabrese, 18, of West Pittston, and a 17-year-old female from Plymouth were cited with underage drinking after a traffic stop on Tuesday. Police said the juvenile had veered into oncoming traffic.

A bottle of alcohol was found inside the car, police said.

• Larry Wargo, of South Walnut Street, reported Wednesday someone smashed a front window at his home with a rock.

• Steven Baratta, of Wapwallopen, reported Thursday that someone had stolen a black and neon green Kayak from the rear of his vehicle while it was parked at Luzerne County Community College.

HAZLE TWP. – Joseph M. Puza, 68, no known address, was arrested on charges of criminal trespass after he was observed inside a property at 1499 S. Church St., state police at Hazleton said.

The property had been condemned by the Hazle Township Code Enforcement officer and had been posted with no trespassing signs, state police said.

WILKES-BARRE – Hassan Howard, 25, of New Jersey was arrested 3:52 p.m. Friday at 325 N. Main St. on an outstanding warrant of delivering multiple drugs to undercover drug agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics.

Police said after the arrest, 42 bags of heroin and three bags of cocaine were found in Howard’s possession. Howard will be arraigned on the warrant and charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and cocaine.

WILKES-BARRE – Police reported the following incidents:

• Lorraine Wolfe, of Wilkes-Barre, reported Friday morning someone scratched the passenger side of her 2002 Chevy while it was parked at Lincoln Plaza.

• Police received a report Thursday afternoon that someone stole items from a vehicle parked on Schuler Street. The items were valued at $210.

• Police received a report Thursday morning that someone damaged a vehicle on North Washington Street. The repair costs are unknown.

• Police received a report Thursday morning that someone painted a victim’s car overnight on North Washington Street. The repair costs are unknown.

• Heather Hurrell reported July 18 someone charged money to her account at 57 W. Hollenback Ave.

• Jennifer Rhodes reported July 18 someone used her bank card without her permission.

• Amanda Miller reported July 18 that someone used her identity to open an account at 67 Hickory St.

• Maria Murray reported Thursday that someone stole property from inside her vehicle while it was parked on North Pennsylvania Avenue.

• Sherman Hills Apartments, 300 Parkview Circle, reported Friday morning that Wallace Luketic, 42, was trespassing at the complex.

• Christopher Hector, 38, was issued a citation Thursday night after he was seen consuming alcohol in public at 195 S. Main St.

• Catherine Macking of Crescent Avenue reported Thursday evening when she arrived at her home she found a white man inside her home, police said.

No items were taken. The suspect fled after being confronted, police said. The suspect is described as a 5 foot 9 inch male with brown hair, brown facial hair with a medium build between the ages of 25 and 35 years old.

• Jonna Pollick, 31, was arrested July 18 after police said she was in possession of prescription drugs not prescribed to her at South Franklin and Academy streets.

• Maureen McDonough was cited with underage drinking after officers observed her staggering from Club Mardi Gras to her car on South Main Street. Alcohol was found in the car, police said.

• Rose Martinez reported Thursday that Jose Pena slapped her after an argument on Park Lane. Pena will be cited with harassment.

• Frank Belles reported Thursday that someone stole a tent from his backyard on Hazle Avenue.

• Shamar Moss and Nicole Taylor were cited Friday with underage drinking after both were observed drinking alcohol at 50 S. Main St.

• Dale Shotwell reported Friday morning that someone removed a television from a home on Kulp Street.

• Ellen Stockage of Main Street in Sweet Valley reported Friday morning Steven Ringgold, 33 of Main Street in Edwardsville shoved her on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. Ringgold will be cited with harassment.

• Joseph Barker, 42 of East Northampton Street was cited with retail theft. Employees at Sheetz Gas Station, 464 Wilkes-Barre Township Blvd. observed Barker attempting to steal $11.38 worth of merchandise by stuffing the items into a purse.
