Police Blotter

SWOYERSVILLE – Police reported the following incidents:

• Michael Smigiel, of Swoyersville, faces disorderly conduct and public drunkenness citations after police said he was sitting on the sidewalk with his shorts around his ankles at 12:41 p.m. Thursday. Police said Smigiel was intoxicated at the time. He was treated at a local hospital for a minor head injury, police said.

• Anthony Latwiss, 35, of Luzerne, was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats after a disturbance Sunday at a home on Bennett Street, Luzerne, police said.

WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Township police reported the following incidents:

• Thomas Baldwin reported Wednesday someone had slashed the top of his 1986 Ford Mustang while it was parked in the John Heinz Rehabilitation parking lot on Mundy Street.

• Jose Colon, 34, of Bronx, N.Y., was captured as a fugitive from justice when police stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard on Wednesday. Police said Colon was wanted by the New York Division of Parole. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 bail.

• Diane Fey reported Thursday someone had stolen her purse from a shopping cart inside the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace.

• Mildred Warakomski reported Thursday someone had stolen her purse from the Old Country Buffet, East End Centre.

• Crystal Epps, 19, of Herndon, Va., was cited with retail theft after police said she concealed $22 worth of items from Wegmans Market on Thursday.

• Police said a 12-year-old male from Hanover will be petitioned to Luzerne County Court on a retail theft charge in connection to stealing two cellular telephones from Digicell Kiosk, Wyoming Valley Mall, on Thursday.

EDWARDSVILLE – Police have issued arrest warrants for two people in connection to a one-month undercover drug investigation at a Roosevelt Street apartment.

Darrell “Bear” Butler, 41, and Sarah Snee, 21, are considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Police said they executed a search warrant at 1019 Roosevelt St. early Friday morning and allegedly found crack cocaine packaged for sale, $4,000 and three loaded handguns with altered serial numbers.

Butler and Snee were last seen driving a red Volkswagen GTI with Pennsylvania registration GJT-1800, and a maroon Ford Explorer with Pennsylvania registration GKD-8898.

Both face charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of communication facility. The charges were filed with District Judge Paul J. Roberts Jr. in Kingston on Thursday after an investigation by Edwardsville and Kingston police, and the state Office of Attorney General’s Luzerne County Drug Task Force.

PLAINS TWP. – State police are investigating a counterfeit $100 bill that was cashed in at Cage A at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs at 6 p.m. Thursday.
