Police Blotter: incidents reported in Wilkes Barre

WILKES-BARRE – The city police department reported the following incidents:

Reneard Harris, 49, was arrested after appearing intoxicated at 175 Academy St. on Monday.

Thomas Hankey, 45, was charged Monday with false reports to police, harassment and public drunkenness. Police said he gave false reports about his ex-girlfriend, Karen Lamoreaux.

Constantino Yanez, 23, was charged with criminal trespass after allegedly entering 35-year-old Beth Piercy’s residence at 28 Academy St., without permission on Monday. Yanez was also arrested on an active warrant.

Margaret Mulaski reported her vehicle was removed from Fairbairn Lane without her consent late Monday.

Pizza Fella’s reported two females put products in their purses and attempted to leave without paying on Monday. An employee stopped both females and took the items out of their purses. The suspects then fled from the business.

A cab driver from Posten Taxi reported to police that a female did not pay her $11.25 fare on South Franklin Street on Tuesday.

Colleen Miller reported a burglary at 199 S. Hancock St. on Jan. 19. A stereo, one guitar, two amps and several bottles of prescription medications were taken from the residence.

Amanda Evans, 23, reported her CD player removed from her 2001 Chevy Cavalier parked at 23 Beekman St. on Tuesday.

Willie Flowers, 66, was arrested after allegedly striking Sally Flowers in the face after a verbal argument at 43 Hutson St. on Tuesday. He was issued a citation for harassment.

Dennis Meekins, 25, was arrested after he allegedly was highly intoxicated in public at 31 N. Empire St., on Tuesday.

Michael Charles was arrested after he allegedly gave multiple false names to police during a traffic violation on Academy Street on Tuesday night. He was fingerprinted for identification when police discovered he was wanted by Nanticoke Police Department. Charges are pending.

• Thomas McGeer, of Hazle Avenue, reported items were stolen from his apartment during a burglary on Wednesday.

• Police said a female juvenile reported a male juvenile known to her touched her in an indecent manner on New Hill Street on Wednesday.

• Lamar K. Johnson, 27, of South Grant Street, Wilkes-Barre, was charged Wednesday after police said they found marijuana inside his car.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, driving while operating privilege is suspended and a traffic offense. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police stopped Johnson on Columbus Avenue at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday for driving a car with a broken headlight. Police detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside Johnson’s car.

Police searched Johnson and found he was carrying a bag of marijuana in his pants and found 13 packaged bags of marijuana in his car’s trunk.

Several bottles of fabric softener, laundry detergent and bleach were also found in the trunk; they are used to conceal marijuana odors, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7 in Central Court.

•Thomas David Hankey, 45, of McLean Street, Wilkes-Barre, was charged Tuesday with making a false kidnapping report to police.

Hankey was charged with false alarms to public safety, false reports to law enforcement, harassment and public drunkenness. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were summoned to a home on Poplar Street several times on Monday after Hankey claimed his estranged girlfriend was being held hostage.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 6 in Central Court.

DUPONT – Scott Suhockey, 36, of Chestnut Street, Dupont, was arrested Wednesday on charges he was playing loud music and threatening police officers.

Suhockey was charged with terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were summoned to Suhockey’s apartment just before 1 a.m. for loud music.

Suhockey was advised by police to turn the music volume down. As police were leaving, a neighbor complained about banging coming from Suhockey’s apartment.

Police returned to the apartment where Suhockey threatened to shoot officers, the criminal complaint says.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7.

LUZERNE – Aaron Reed Brown, 29, of North Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested on charges he sped away from police after passing through a red traffic signal at Union and Evans streets early Tuesday morning.

Brown was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, driving while privilege is suspended and two traffic offenses.

According to the criminal complaint:

Swoyersville police attempted to stop Brown after he passed through a red traffic signal at about 1:45 a.m.

Brown sped away driving at a high rate of speed on Wyoming Avenue and driving on the sidewalk when he turned onto Rutter Avenue in Kingston.

Brown stopped on East Bennett Street where he refused to get out of his car. Brown was pulled from his car and struggled with police until he was taken in to custody, the criminal complaint says.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 6 in Central Court.
