UPDATED 7:43 A.M. |  2 fugitives captured

Two men wanted for parole violations with ties to Luzerne County were captured during the weekend.

Authorities apprehended Tieast Frazier, 27, a fugitive wanted by the state Board of Probation and Parole, Bergen County, N.J., police and state parole officials confirmed. He was charged with assaulting a police officer during a routine traffic stop, authorities said.

Frazier was one of two Northeastern Pennsylvania’s most wanted fugitives captured. The list is published in every Sunday’s Times Leader.

Elsewhere, authorities in New York state apprehended Kalen Bell, 28, of Scranton, who had been wanted for a parole violation after serving a prison sentence for aggravated assault charges stemming from an Edwardsville bar shooting in 2003. Details of his apprehension were not available Tuesday.

Frazier, who has a last known address in Wilkes-Barre, has been a fugitive since April 28.

According to an article published Monday on a news media Web site, NorthJersey.com, Frazier allegedly tried to hit a police officer with a vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Route 80 in Bergen County.

Police had no information to release on the incident Tuesday.

In 2007, Frazier was sentenced by a Lackawanna County judge for possessing an instrument of crime and disorderly conduct charges, records show. He was released on parole on Feb. 23.

Frazier now also faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, attempting to elude police and being a fugitive from justice in New Jersey, jail records show.

An extradition hearing date was not immediately known.
