Update: Total of 68 apply for Skrep's job

One more person has applied for the Luzerne County Commissioner seat vacated by Greg Skrepenak's resignation, bringing the total number of applicants to 68.

Sorokas; Joseph Gill; Alfred Akulonis Jr.; Allison Walzer; Michael S. Giamber; Joseph Morren; Bonnie Lini Markowski; James Hassel; David Owen Roberts; and John J. Brennan.

Four more county residents have submitted applications to fill the term of Luzerne County Commissioner Greg Skrepenak.

New to the list are applicants Rob Reddington, an employee with Brosna Communication, of Hanover Township; Edward Palka, a part-time teacher at King's College, of Shavertown; Charlene Aben, a retired Luzerne County Children and Youth worker, of Swoyersville; and John Pitcavage, a retired resident from Swoyersville.

That brings the total number of applicants to 21.

Nicholas D. Volpetti a retiree who works part-time as a sales representative at Riders World in Wilkes-Barre has submitted an application. Earlier this morning, it was learned that four other names were added: Cliff Madrak, Michael J. Szustak, Lawrence DeFluri and Justin McCarthy have also been added to the list of applicants today.

Madrak is employed by the county as director of Moon Lake Park. DeFluri is a county assessor's office worker, McCarthy manages Red Stag Inc., and Szustak is a therapeutic support staff worker at Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18, an agency that provides a variety of services, particularly special education, to area school districts.

John T. Banks of Wilkes-Barre, James M. Desiderio Jr. of Wilkes-Barre Township, Thomas Dombroski of Trucksville, Phillip Knobel of Exeter, Joseph A. Naperkowski of Wilkes-Barre, Antonio J. Rodriquez of Hazleton, Robert L. Shainline Sr. of Pittston, Gary R. Shupp of Mountain Top and Beth Ann Wenner of Freeland submitted paperwork on Saturday. Sam Pennartz, of Wyoming, Gary Reese, of Kingston and Greg Gulick, of Mountain Top, applied on Friday.

All applicants list their affiliation as Democrat, which is required to fill Skrepenak’s seat.
