Gregory Yannes, a senior at MMI Preparatory School, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Yannes, the son of Robert and Christine Yannes, White Haven, is one of 15,000 finalists out of more than 1.5 million students throughout the country who entered the program this year. This places him in the top one percent of all entrants. As a finalist, Yannes is eligible for a $2,500 National Merit scholarship, a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship award or a college-sponsored Merit Scholarship award. Yannes has earned numerous scholastic awards at the school and is a member of many societies and clubs. He is also involved in community and church events and fundraisers.
Local residents recently participated in service projects through the Shoval Center, King’s College’s service-learning organization. Service projects were held in San Antonio, Texas; South Bend, Ind.; and Phoenix, Ariz. Participants were Robert Moulton, Mountain Top; Katheryn Avila;Robert Yanik, Dallas; and Eric Grego, White Haven.
