Fourth graders at South Abington Elementary School got their hearts racing for the American Heart Association Feb. 25, in the school gym.
The group of about 50 students jumped rope to raise money for the charity. The students, spread out across the gym floor, jumped solo and in groups. Oranges were provided as a snack.
Their gym teacher, Patrick Kennedy, said jumping rope is “such good exercise for the heart.” He added that jumping rope can take place year-round, indoors and outdoors, making it a great exercise for children.
This is the 12th year the students have participated in the fundraiser. Kennedy will hold a similar fundraiser Friday at Newton-Ransom Elementary School.
