WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a structure fire at Church and Chestnut streets.

According to Luzerne County 911, calls reporting the fire were received just before 8:45 p.m.

A Church Street resident described the building as a double-block structure with several apartments.

Church, Chestnut and Spencer streets are closed as firefighters battle the blaze.

Police are using the nearby St. John’s Byzantine Church lot for parking.

Wilkes-Barre Township, Hanover Township, Nanticoke and Ashley fire departments are on the scene.
