Showers, thunderstorms, cool temperatures kick off weekend

WILKES-BARRE — Rain and cooler temperatures are expected in the Wyoming Valley on Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast Friday calls for showers and thunderstorms early on, with the potential increasing overnight. The high will only be around 75. The low is expected to be near 65.

Saturday also features the chance for showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies with a high of 76. There will be a 40 percent chance of showers before midnight. The low will be around 61.

Sunday is shaping up to be the gem of the weekend, with experts calling for partly sunny skies and a high near 77. Expect a cool night: the low will be around 58.
