WILKES-BARRE — A city man behaving violently while allegedly under the influence was stabbed in self-defense Friday, according to police.

Fernando Bracero, 23, struck an officer multiple times when police responded to a North Empire Street residence around 2 a.m. for a reported stabbing, police said.

Police learned Bracero was stabbed when he arrived at the residence “under the influence of something,” and began acting violent toward other residents who defended themselves with a knife. Bracero was stabbed in the arm, according to police.

Bracero was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, then taken to a local hospital for treatment.
