WILKES-BARRE — A city man was arraigned Friday on charges he was driving a stolen vehicle that may be connected to a homicide in Kentucky, court records say.

Jose Felix Tlatenchi, 35, of Jones Street, and a woman were spotted driving a 2003 BMW from his residence to a department store in Wilkes-Barre Township on Thursday night, authorities report.

Tlatenchi was arraigned by District Judge John Hasay in Shickshinny on a single count of receiving stolen property. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $250,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police said they are assisting Lexington, Kentucky, police in regards to a homicide in Lexington in September. An investigation revealed a white 2003 BMW was seen driving away from the Lexington homicide.

The vehicle, owned by Jose Olascoaga, was reported to Lexington police as stolen and entered into a national database.

Police spotted the vehicle parked in the area 218 Jones St., Wilkes-Barre. As an officer waited for additional officers for backup, Tlatenchi and a woman drove away in the vehicle to Sam’s Club in Wilkes-Barre Township.

Police followed Tlatenchi into and throughout the store.

Tlatenchi was arrested when he left the store and entered the vehicle.

Police released the woman, who was not charged.
