WILKES-BARRE TWP. — An inmate at the Luzerne County lockup was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly leading township police on a chase that ended with a crash at a closed gas station last month.

Haseam Little, 22, last known address of Coal Street, Wilkes-Barre, crashed a stolen Ford Escape into a pillar at the closed Sunoco on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard on Nov. 22, police say.

Little escaped custody that time, but he was captured by township officers when he was spotted driving a stolen Honda CRV in the area of Dunkin’ Donuts on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard on Friday, a report states.

According to a criminal complaint:

Police conducting traffic patrol in the area of Coal Street and Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard spotted a Ford Escape without its lights turned on the night of Nov. 22.

The driver, identified as Little, turned north on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard, reaching speeds of 75 mph and passing through red traffic signals. Little turned onto a rear access road to the Home Depot from Mundy Street and drove the wrong way on a one-way ramp to Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard before turning into the closed Sunoco station and crashing into a pillar.

Little ran from the Ford, leaving behind drug packaging materials.

A passenger in the vehicle, Daivine Tyre, also ran from the Ford but was later captured. Tyre was wanted by authorities in Hudson County, New Jersey.

A second passenger in the Ford told police Little was aware the Ford was stolen. It was reported stolen in the Philadelphia area.

After Little’s arrest Friday on charges he was driving a stolen Honda, he admitted to fleeing in the stolen Ford several weeks prior.

Little told police he hid under a vehicle parked outside the nearby Arena Bar and Grill to avoid capture Nov. 22.

“I’m tired of running and looking over my shoulder for police. When I wrecked the vehicle in the previous pursuit, I knew it was stolen. That’s why I ran. I was surprised you didn’t find me. I ran up the hill and hid under a car in the bar’s parking lot. I waited there till all the cops left. I knew I would get caught, I just didn’t know when,” Little reportedly told police.

He is facing a list of charges stemming from the two incidents. He was jailed for lack of $70,000 bail.
