WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man wanted on charges he nearly struck a city police officer while fleeing from an alleged drug sale was captured by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday.

Jean Jimenez, 27, was apprehended at a residence in the 300 block of McLean Street, Wilkes-Barre, according to a news release from U.S. Marshal Martin Pane.

Recovered at the scene of Jimenez’s arrest were a handgun and suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana, authorities report.

City police say they obtained an arrest warrant for Jimenez when he nearly struck an officer as he sped away in a stolen vehicle during an illegal drug sale Jan. 10.

Jimenez was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and receiving stolen property.

For the items reportedly found in the residence Tuesday, Jimenez faces three counts of possession with intent to deliver and a single count of illegal possession of a firearm.

Jimenez was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $500,000 total bail.
