WILKES-BARRE — A Berwick man accused of rape made a series of filings on Friday, one of which asked for his accuser to be checked for psychological and neurological problems.

Alfonzo Glenn, 45, was arrested in Benton by U.S. Marshals last March.

Police say Glenn repeatedly beat his victim and had intercourse with her in Pittston last February.

The criminal complaint describes Glenn punching the woman, putting a bag over her head and raping her in the bathroom of the Pittston home.

He faces charges of rape, indecent assault, aggravated assault, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was denied bail on the grounds of being a flight risk.

On Friday, Glenn said due to the severe beating his alleged victim received, she should be mentally examined.

“Following the alleged assault, the plaintiff manifested unusual behavior in that she was unable to recall relevant details of the alleged assault for several hours and she further gave several inconsistent statements,” Glenn’s statement says.

Glenn argued the examinations would produce “highly relevant and admissible evidence” that would prove she would be unable to process what was happening during the incident, therefore making her unable to implicate him.

Glenn’s second filing is attempting to toss out evidence, saying the accusations against him were coerced out of the woman by police.

It is unclear how Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. will respond to Glenn’s filings.
