AG’s office probes drugs at prison

WILKES-BARRE – The state Office of Attorney General has been called in to investigate potential drug violations by an employee at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, District Attorney Jacqueline Musto Carroll confirmed Thursday.

Musto Carroll said she was contacted earlier this summer regarding the allegations. She referred the case to the Attorney General’s Office because her office does not have a drug unit.

Musto Carroll said she could not provide further details of the incident. She referred further questions to the Attorney General’s Office. A spokesman for the office did not immediately return a phone message Thursday.

Warden Joseph Piazza said he could not comment on the investigation because it involves a personnel issue.
