About 15 teenage girls became transformed again into models Saturday afternoon as they participated in the Lake-Lehman Foundation Fashion Show. Three teenage boys and a 5-year-old Lake-Lehman kindergarten student also participated in the show’s winter theme.

The show hosted by Lake-Lehman seniors Jamie Bartoo and Mirina Dragon showcased students from Lake-Lehman, Northwest Area and Meyers High Schools modeling three outfits each ranging from casual to formal wear.

“It was actually a lot of fun putting everything together. We got a lot of people involved. Hopefully next year the people that were involved this year and more people will jump in next year,” Dragon said.

Bartoo and Dragon, both 17 years old, organized the show to serve as a fundraiser for the recently re-established Lake-Lehman Foundation that serves the school district and community by offering educational programs, scholarships and community activities. It also serves as both girls’ senior project.

Foundation Secretary Johanna Evans was excited about the show because it helps the nonprofit group raise funds to continue providing scholarships and other programs to support the district’s athletics, clubs, performing arts and academic programs.

“These girls who are doing the fashion show are the very people we are trying to help. It is just wonderful to work with the high school students, other members of the community, with the administration at Lake-Lehman because really this is going to benefit everyone,” Evans said.

They began organizing the show at the beginning of the summer by contacting area retailers to provide outfits for the students to model. Dragon said the response was great as Couture, David’s Bridal, Panache, Sarno and Son, Showroom 56 and Tuxedo Junction loaned their fashions for the show.

The event also showcased local vendors who set up tables to demonstrate their fashionable purses, jewelry, and winter outerwear. Those vendors included: Angela’s Closet, Bridal Trinkets, Kathy Finnerty, Lia Sophia Jewelry, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Outrageous, Panache, Jane Roan and Showroom 56.
