Background on federal probe

Federal Bureau of Investigation probes into the activity behind Luzerne County government have been ongoing for several months.

A press conference has been called for 1:30 p.m. today to announce developments in a "public corruption probe," according to U.S. Attorney Martin Carlson. The release did not provide any further information. The conference is expected to outline charges against Luzerne County President Judge Mark Ciavarella and Senior Michael Conahan.
