Ed DeMichele, chairman of the Catholic Youth Center Board of Directors, announced the 25th anniversary of Mark J. Soprano, associate executive director of the CYC.
DeMichele said the public is invited to attend to a Mass and reception in honor of Soprano on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Mass will be held at 11a.m. at St. Mary’s Maternity Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with Father John S. Terry, director of CYC, as the principal celebrant. Carl Joseph Soprano and Jillian Soprano will provide the readings. A public reception will held at the CYC, 36 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, from 1 to 4 p.m. A brief program recognizing Soprano’s years of service will be held at 2 p.m. DeMichele named John Callahan and Ron Simon co-chairman, of the event. Father Terry and Anthony D. English Jr., executive director of CYC, will speak on behalf of the board of directors and staff. Music will be provided by E-J the DJs.
Soprano, 45, is the son of the late Joseph and Joanne Soprano. He is the father of two children, Carl Joseph and Jillian. He was educated at St. Nick’s Elementary School and Bishop Hoban High School.
Soprano received his Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from King’s College and has been employed at the Catholic Youth Center for the past 25 years as the bookkeeper, administrative assistant and associate executive director. He is a past member of the Wyoming Valley Basketball Officials Association. He is an avid golfer and a member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club. Soprano is a member of the CYC Athletic Council.
