Car crashes into Wilkes-Barre home; driver claims she was held at knifepoint

WILKES-BARRE - A woman claimed one of two men who jumped into her car grabbed the steering wheel causing the vehicle to crash into a house on McLean Street Tuesday night.

Amanda Kempa, 21, of Sugar Notch, told police that she was stopped at a stop sign at McLean and Mayer streets at about 10:20 p.m. when two men jumped in her vehicle. One of the men held a knife to her throat telling her, "give me all you got," police said.

Kempa claimed she continued to drive when one of the men grabbed the steering wheel and turned the vehicle into a house at 289 McLean St.

After the crash, the men jumped out of Kempa's vehicle and sped away in a late model blue four-door Saturn, police said.

Police said Kempa was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, for head injuries.

A passenger in Kempa's vehicle, Eva Little, was not injured.
