Clintons to attend Scranton rally with Biden

Times Leader staff

Bill and Hillary Clinton will join Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden at a Barack Obama campaign rally Sunday in Scranton.

The former president and current New York senator are expected to address the failed economic policies and how Barack Obama and Biden will work to help ordinary families, according to a campaign press release.

Biden and Sen. Hillary Clinton have strong ties to the area. Biden was born in Scranton and lived in the city’s Green Ridge section until his family moved to Delaware when he was 10. Hillary Clinton’s father, the late Hugh Rodham, was a Scranton native.

The Clintons will attend the baptism of Simon Rodham, son of the senator’s brother, Tony Rodham, Sunday at the Court Street United Methodist Church. No additional details have been announced.

This is positive although I think Bill Clinton has only made token appearances. He still compliments Mccain and tries to not help Obama in various comments. Hillary on the other hand has shown party loyalty, class and helps Obama. Bill the world doesn't revolve around you and your unstatesman and sometimes party loyalty act is getting old.

"YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY THAT YOU KEEP." This is an adage that I recall being told me by the nuns in grade school. I was reminded of this when I read that the Clinton's were to accompany Biden on his visit. It brought to mind a similar circumstance in a previous election campaign. It was at a similar event that Al Gore strode on stage, placed his arm on the shoulder of Howard Dean and announced his full support of that democratic candidate. It was from that instant, as I recall, that Mr, Dean's campaign began to spiral down the "porcelain facility" and never recovered. Perhaps those nuns were correct. There is some company that these candidates should NOT keep.

Biden hardly had anyone appear at his WB rally a few weeks bad. It says a lot that he needs the Clintons to appear with him in his "hometown".

Boston is a wonderful city and I love living here, but sometimes I feel like I need a little Scranton in me to get me through the week. Moved away a few months ago... Miss you Scranton!
