Domestic dispute
NANTICOKE – A city man was arrested on allegations he stuck his wife’s leg with a wooden dart during an argument at their home late Wednesday night.
John Wojciechowski, 40, of 126 W. Washington St., was arraigned Thursday morning on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possessing instruments of crime and resisting arrest, according to court records.
He was jailed at Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
Nanticoke police said Wojciechowski threw the dart at his wife, Kimberly, after the couple began fighting over the volume of music playing in their home.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 5 at Central Court.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to the couple’s home on West Washington Street for a domestic dispute. Wojciechowski was not at the home when police arrived, police said.
His wife, Kimberly, told police her husband was blasting music while she and her 13-year-old daughter were in the basement playing darts. He refused to lower the volume after being asked several times, so she turned it down for him.
Wojciechowski became enraged, according to the criminal complaint, and took a dart and threw it at his wife from about 10 feet away.
The dart lodged in his wife’s right thigh just above her knee, and she had to go to Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre to have it removed, police said.
Police learned Wojciechowski was back at his home just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
Officers spoke with Wojciechowski, who denied causing injury to his wife and told police he and his daughter were at Weis Markets in Nanticoke. Police said he resisted as they tried to place him in the police cruiser.
Police said Wojciechowski began to kick the vehicle and was yelling and cursing. After a brief struggle, police said, he was taken into custody.
