A Susquehanna County man faces charges on allegations he led police on a high-speed chase that started during an attempted traffic stop in Archbald and ended with his capture in Jermyn late Friday.
John Frisbie, 18, of Forest City, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and numerous traffic violations, according to state police at Dunmore, Lackawanna County.
He is accused of leading Archbald, Mayfield and Jermyn police on the high-speed chase.
Frisbie was arraigned Saturday morning before District Judge James Gibbons, according to jail records. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Officers observed Frisbie allegedly driving erratically along Route 6 at the intersection of Betty Street in Archbald, police said. Frisbie began fleeing at a high rate of speed after police attempted to stop his vehicle.
The chase ended at the Old Acme parking lot on South Washington Avenue in Jermyn, police said.
Police approached Frisbie’s vehicle on foot and in patrol vehicles, police said. Frisbie then accelerated toward officers striking an Archbald police cruiser before leaving the lot.
A Mayfield police officer fired his weapon striking Frisbie’s vehicle, police said.
Frisbie then crashed his vehicle into a wooded area near Dwight Street, police said. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
A passenger, Amanda Carvin, 19, of Susquehanna, was inside of Frisbie’s vehicle during the chase, according to police. Neither Frisbie nor the passenger were struck by the officer’s shots, police said.
