County budget vote may be postponed

Luzerne County Commissioners don’t expect to agree on a proposed 2010 budget by Wednesday, which means a vote will probably be postponed until the second week of December.

Commissioner Chairwoman Maryanne Petrilla said the 2010 deficit, originally $29 million, is now between $13 million and $15 million. At least two commissioners – a majority vote – must agree on how to close the remaining gap, with options including deep staff reductions and a tax increase.
