DEP, police cite 12 trash trucks for violations

The state Department of Environmental Protection, in coordination with state police, cited 12 trash trucks on Nov. 4 for violations discovered during recent inspections at Keystone Landfill in Dunmore and Throop.

Five of the haulers were from Luzerne County, two from Lackawanna County and one from Mount Pocono in Monroe County.

They were cited for various violations, from improperly enclosing their loads and leaking to lacking signage or possessing a fire extinguisher that had been discharged.

A total of 263 trucks were inspected.
