State police continue to probe how a Fairmount Township woman died while they continue to search for her husband, who may be driving a car his wife rented on Friday.
The body of 26-year-old Rebecca Lynne Amrowski was found inside her home on Red Hill Road on Monday.
Luzerne County Coroner John Corcoran said after an autopsy on Tuesday he didn’t believe Amrowski’s death was suspicious. But he didn’t release the cause and manner of Amrowski’s death, saying he didn’t want to hamper the investigation.
Investigators learned Amrowski rented a 2008 Kia Spectra from Enterprise Rentals on Kidder Street, Wilkes-Barre, on Friday.
Amrowski’s husband, Brian Keith Amrowski, 31, may be driving the rented Kia that hasn’t been returned to the rental company, according to arrest records filed on Wednesday.
Brian Amrowski is charged with theft and receiving stolen property in connection to the rented vehicle.
State police Lt. Richard Krawetz and Luzerne County District Attorney Jacqueline Musto Carroll said the death of Amrowski and the missing rental vehicle remain under investigation.
They declined further comment about the investigation.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Brian Amrowski with District Judge Martin Kane in Wilkes-Barre:
Rebecca Amrowski rented the vehicle and signed a rental contract agreement that stated no other drivers are authorized to operate the vehicle. She was scheduled to return the vehicle on Monday.
After her body was found, investigators learned Brian Amrowski and his friend, William Bilby, left the area in the vehicle Rebecca Amrowski rented, according to the criminal complaint.
Bilby’s mother, Nancy Bilby, who lives at Bilby Hill Road, Shickshinny, told investigators that Brian Amrowski arrived at her home between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, and her son and Brian loaded supplies in the vehicle.
Nancy claimed her son and Brian Amrowski told her they were going on a trip but didn’t tell her where they were going or when they would return, according to the criminal complaint.
Rebecca Lynne Amrowski’s body was found in the basement of her home by family and coworkers who had come to check on her when she failed to show up for her job as a receptionist at a doctor’s office in Shickshinny, officials said on Monday.
