LAKE TWP. – Two former owners of an antique store in Dallas were arrested Tuesday on charges of engaging in deceptive business practices in 2006.
Daniel R. Hanson, 60, and Patricia A. Settle, 54, who formerly ran Robin’s Nest Antique Store, face charges of deceptive businesses practices, criminal use of a communication facility, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy, court records show.
Hanson and Settle, both of Dallas, were taken into custody without incident and arraigned Tuesday before District Judge James Tupper in Kingston Township, according to state police at Wyoming.
They were released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
The duo are accused of making unauthorized sales while operating Robin’s Nest Antique Store from Nov. 22 through Dec. 14, 2006, police said.
Florence G. Sokol, 81, of Lake Township, hired Hanson and Settle to conduct an estate sale of the contents of her home so she could sell the property, police said.
Hanson and Settle allegedly kept some of Sokol’s property and sold these items on eBay without consent of Sokol, police said.
Police said the former business owners did not reimburse Sokol for any of the unauthorized sales. One of the sale items was a gold and diamond watch -- valued at more than $3,000, according to police – which was listed for $99.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Dec. 4 at Central Court.
