The boy, Matthew Abline, 16, of 148 Schooley Ave., was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, according to the boy’s sister, Crystal Abline.
Crystal Abline, 18, said she was upstairs in her bedroom and heard her brother yelling at his mother, Cynthia Abline, 44, downstairs in the living room shortly before 9:30 p.m.
She said she came downstairs and found her brother bleeding from his upper chest near the neck.
The boy said he was accidentally shot with a .22-caliber gun at the apartment of his friend, John Krantz, who lives across the street at 141 Schooley Ave., Building S, Crystal Abline saidWhen their mother asked who shot him, the boy said his friend was showing him the gun he had just bought when it went off, she said.
The boy’s mother and sister applied pressure to the wound and called 911. Crystal Abline said her brother was going in and out of consciousness.
Luzerne County 911 said Krantz fled the scene and police were still searching for him as of press time.
Police would not release any information on the incident.
A 911 supervisor confirmed that Krantz, who Crystal said friends called “John-John,” is described as being in his mid 20s, about 5 feet, 3 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, jean shorts and black sneakers and was headed toward Wyoming. He is believed to be armed and heading toward Nanticoke.

Hey TL, is the suspect Black or White? Or is that a racist question? Seems like you are more interested in not offending people than actually helping the police catch this guy.

Who is Officer Turner talking on the phone with, in the middle of a criminal investigation? Is the call related to the investigation, or is making plans to meet his buddies at the bar after his shift ends?

Officer Turner can't help it. The phone is permanently attached to his ear. Those that live in WA district know that he is always on his phone.

... Maybe the call is related to the investigation? I'm sure you could handle the situation; after all you watch both CSI Miami AND Las Vegas?

Wow, good thing I don't live in Exeter, but honestly I think I would want Walmart instead of another housing complex like 500 Schooley in my town. But hey if the people want more crime who am I to try to sway them.

Another subsidized housing project with problems? I can't believe it! I'm so glad my taxes go toward so many useful endeavors.

accidental or not this should have never happen. Why a 20 something year older man being show a gun to a 16 year old that is unresponseable because of that man show that teenager that gun that teenager got hurt and sent to the hospital and not only that if 911 wasnt called in time that teenager could have died. i think people need to think a little bit more and be a little bit more responsible when it come the things like this the only time a gun should be out is for hunting or to protect your self if there is a robbery in a person home and then that there is no excuse for a fun to be out. shame on the man that thought it was ok to show an innocsent 16 year old a gun.
