Hanover Area approves salaries

HANOVER TWP. – Hanover Area School Board on Thursday voted 6-0 to approve the salaries of Superintendent Anthony Podczasy and Business Administrator Joseph Kochuba.

Podczasy’s salary is $101,400, which is retroactive to Feb. 1. Kochuba’s salary is $94,787 and is retroactive to July 1, 2009. The board also approved the Confidential Secretary/Administrative Assistant agreement and salary schedule, effective July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2012.

John Pericci, Lorraine Heydt, Frank Sorokach, David Evans, Evelyn Evans and Joseph Steininger voted for the salaries. Board members Anthony Gagliardi and John Mahle Jr. were absent. The newest board member, Frank Ciavarella Jr., abstained from the vote.

In other business, the board approved the following substitute teachers for the 2009-2010 school year: John Gibbon III, Ryan Horensky, Frances Landmesser, Paul Kelly and Abigail Goodman.

Senior Amy Molitoris was recognized as the student of the month for February. Molitoris is a member of the Mensa Society, a nonprofit organization open to those who score in the 98th percentile of standardized IQ tests.

Not only is Molitoris gifted academically, said Junior/Senior High Vice Principal Dan Malloy, but she also is active in sports and has served as the junior and senior class treasurer.

“She is a miraculous young lady,” he said.
