Hearing on federal obstruction charge postponed to December

WILKES-BARRE – A preliminary hearing scheduled Friday for a Pittston businessman charged in the county corruption probe has been continued to December.

Barton Weidlich, who was charged with attempted obstruction of justice earlier this month, is now scheduled for a preliminary hearing in federal court, Wilkes-Barre, on Dec. 4.

Prosecutors allege Weidlich made veiled threats against a witness he suspected was wearing a concealed recording device.

He is currently restricted to home confinement at his mother’s house.
