Laflin rejects plea to take over road

LAFLIN – Borough officials advised a Manchester Drive resident Monday that there was no way that the municipality could take over the roadway at this time.
The resident is considering adding the roadway to other land he is in the process of purchasing in the development, and was interested in learning if the borough would work with him to get the road up to a suitable condition that would allow it to be taken over.
Unlike the previous developer, he would be willing to give the road to the borough for no charge.
Councilman Paul Benderavich noted that the condition of the road is less of a concern than drainage issues that the road creates. The road dumps water into two adjoining properties, and taking over the road could mean that the borough was legally obligated to rectify the drainage issues.
