Luzerne County Commissioners comment on alleged charges against county judges

Three Luzerne County officials have shared their thoughts on charges that are said to be filed today against Luzerne County President Judge Mark Ciavarella and Senior Michael Conahan.

Luzerne County Minority Commissioner Stephen A. Urban said if what's being reported is true, he hopes the new president judge would review the court's lawsuit budget-related lawsuit against the county and meet with county attorneys to negotiate a resolution.

Luzerne County Commissioner Greg Skrepenak said there have been a lot of rumors and hopefully this can provide the answers everybody has been waiting for.

Luzerne County Commissioner Chairwoman Maryanne Petrilla said it’s a “very sad day in Luzerne County.” Petrilla said she looks forward to learning the specifics.

“This has just been hanging over the courthouse for a long time," Petrilla said.
