Man caught entering vehicles in Hanover Township

HANOVER TWP. - Police said they arrested a man on charges he stole items from vehicles in the Newtown section Monday night.

Shawn Daniel Davis, 29, of East Chestnut Street, was arraigned on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.

Police said they caught Davis entering an unlocked vehicle on West Germania Street around 9:15 p.m. He was allegedly in possession of two $1 bills, loose change, a lottery ticket and a microwave container of Chef Boyardee lasagna, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said they captured Davis after a witness reported seeing him entering vehicles in Ashley.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Sept. 7 before District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township.
