KINGSTON - A Wilkes-Barre man was arrested by police on Thursday on charges he robbed the Sunoco A-Plus on Wyoming Avenue on Nov. 7.
Harold Leland Terry, 20, of Laurel Street, was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by District Judge Paul J. Roberts and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $35,000 bail.
Police allege Terry entered the A-Plus and asked a clerk to exchange a $1 bill for four quarters. When the clerk opened the register, Terry allegedly reached across the counter and grabbed money.
Terry ran out of the store and sped away in a vehicle that was parked in a parking lot on Northampton Street in Edwardsville, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said a Luzerne County probation officer recognized Terry from a photo of the alleged robbery.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on Nov. 25 before Roberts.
