Man charged in deliberate crash arraigned

SWOYERSVILLE – A Wilkes-Barre man was arraigned Thursday on charges that he tried to kill his girlfriend in July by intentionally crashing his truck.

Police allege Harry Teel Jr. was fighting with Rose Hilburn in his truck when drove across the 109th Field Artillery Bridge at a high rate of speed, ran through a red traffic signal and crashed into a concrete barrier and embankment.

Hilburn, 40, of Plymouth, suffered a broken back and jaw, police said.

Teel, 61, said during the hearing before District Judge David Barilla that he is still being treated for injuries from the crash on Route 11 in Larksville on July 12. Teel had been hospitalized and he was released last week from a nursing home.
