Man charged with assault, burglary in Avoca

AVOCA - An Old Forge man wanted for assaulting a man with a lamp during a residential burglary was captured Monday night.

Ronald Marchise, 42, of Keyser Avenue, Old Forge, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and criminal trespass. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $15,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Lynne Vergnetti told police that Marchise banged on her front and rear doors at her home on Main Street on Sunday. Marchise forced his way inside the residence and unlocked a bedroom door yelling, "You're dead," and "How can you do this to me?"

Marchise lunged at Mark Donovan in the bedroom and struck Donovan several times with a lamp, the criminal complaint says.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on Oct. 7 before District Judge Fred Pierantoni in Pittston.
