Meat thermometer a weapon, cops say

WYOMING – A 24-year-old Wyoming woman was charged after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a meat thermometer.

Police said Ashley Sherlinki, 24, was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment Sunday night after she allegedly threw the kitchen instrument at Eric Dixon, 33, also of Wyoming.

Police said the thermometer stuck a inch into Dixon’s skin just below his chest.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Michael Fuller, just before 4 p.m. Sunday police were dispatched to 19 W. Eighth St. for the report of a man stabbed with an ice pick.

When police arrived, they were informed the weapon was a meat thermometer. Dixon told police Sherlinki was banging on the door of his residence. When he answered, Sherlinki threw the thermometer at him.

Police said a witness told them he stopped the thermometer from going further into Dixon’s stomach, and pulled it out before emergency personnel arrived.

Police said Dixon had a small injury from the incident.

Wyoming police said Sherlinki was arraigned before District Judge Gerald Feissner and released on bail with the condition she have no contact with Dixon.

Sherlinki is tentatively scheduled for a hearing at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 in Central Court.
