WRIGHT TWP. – The Wright Township Summer Park Program for 2008 starts on June 16 and will run for 10 weeks. Registration will be held at the lower pavilion by the basketball courts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 6 to 8 p.m. May 19. Pre-registration is recommended, but registration will also be taken the first day of the program and any day thereafter.

PLYMOUTH – Mayor Dorothy Petrosky and borough council have announced that May 10 to 17 is “Take Pride in Plymouth” week. A street litter cleanup will be held on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. Volunteers are needed. Any individuals, school, church, civic organization, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are welcome to help. Vests, gloves and bags will be supplied by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The borough street department will pick up the bags. To volunteer, call the borough building at 779-1011 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by Tuesday. Ella Lukavitch is coordinating the event.

WILKES-BARRE – The Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center’s Latino Committee will hold a speed networking fundraiser at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Arts YOUniverse, 151 S. Franklin St. The “speed networking” phenomenon is fueled by professionals looking to create business contact in their local community. Cost is $20 per person. The event will include appetizers, wine and soft drinks, entertainment and the opportunity to advance business and career networking. Proceeds will benefit the Fiesta Latina de San Juan Celebration, which will be held at the CYC in June and is open to the community.

PITTSTON TWP. – Eight public hearings – including one scheduled for this month in Luzerne County – will be held throughout the state by Gov. Ed Rendell’s Sustainable Water Infrastructure Task Force. The sessions are aimed at gathering public input on how to address the challenge of the state’s aging and deteriorating water systems.
