WILKES-BARRE -- On Monday, the city of Wilkes-Barre’s Department of Public Works will begin sweeping city streets. The schedule will help to ensure that all areas of the city are cleaned on a regular basis. In order to facilitate the street sweeper, residents should follow the existing signage and remove vehicles from the designated side of the street on scheduled days. An air horn will sound from Parking Enforcement vehicles as a courtesy notice for residents to move their vehicles. Parking enforcement will issue warnings on vehicles that do not abide by the posted street cleaning signage through the month of May. Beginning Monday, June 2, parking tickets will be issued.
The street sweeping schedule is as follows:
• First full week of the month (beginning on the following days: Monday, May 5; Monday, June 2; Monday, July 7; and Monday, Aug. 4) Monday: Downtown Wilkes-Barre from North Street to South Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to River Street; Tuesday: North Main Street to Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and North Street to Brookside; Wednesday: Gilligan Street to Salvation Army and Hazle Street to South Main Street; Thursday: Division Street to Academy Street from Carey Avenue to South Main Street; Friday: Lower and Upper Miners Mills.
• Second week of the month, Monday: Downtown from North Street to South Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to River Street; Tuesday: North Main Street to the river from West Chestnut Street to North Street; Wednesday: South Street to Solomon Street and Empire Street to Park Avenue/Hazle Avenue; Thursday: streets off Old River Road; Academy Street to Firwood Park; Carey Avenue to Old River Road; Friday: Parsons, including Parsons Manor, and Pine Ridge Estates
• Third week of the month, Monday: Downtown from North Street to South Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to River Street; Tuesday: Northampton Street to South Street from Wilkes-Barre Boulevard to Empire Street; Wednesday: Iron Triangle and Goose Island sections; Thursday: Simpson Street to Barney Farms from Carey Avenue to Gordon Avenue; Friday: East End section
• Fourth week of the month, Monday: Downtown from North Street to South Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to River Street; Tuesday: Coal Street to South Street and J. Campbell Collins to Wells Street; Thursday: Union Hall on South Washington Street to Saint Theresa’s Church on Old River Road from South Street to Academy Street.

DALLAS – The borough road department will being weekly curbside yard waste collection beginning the week of May 12. The weekly collection schedule will begin following the conclusion of the Dallas Borough annual spring cleanup scheduled for May 5 to 10.
