TUNKHANNOCK – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on Thursday reauthorized the telephone charge residents in Wyoming County pay for their local 911 system.
Wyoming County did not request a change in the current contribution rate of $1.50 per telephone line per month. Wyoming County’s 911 service area has a population of approximately 28,000.
Local phone companies collect the fee for the counties, and the approved surcharges are in effect for the next three years.
WILKES-BARRE – Mayor Thomas M. Leighton reminds residents to remove leaves from catch basins to avoid surface flooding, which can pose a safety hazard to motorists and pedestrians. The city’s Department of Public Works will continue picking up leaves in paper bags, plastic containers and loose piles through December.
Residents may drop off leaves from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding Christmas Day and New Years Day) and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the DPW garage, 3 Conyngham Ave. (entrance on Pennsylvania Avenue). If there is a blocked catch basin in your neighborhood that you are unable to clean, call 208-4240 to request assistance.

I'm just curious why a single home with two or more lines has to pay the 911 charge on both (or more) lines.
