KINGSTON TWP. – The board of supervisors Wednesday approved the first reading of the proposed $2.6 million budget for 2009 that holds the line on taxes.
In other business, the supervisors voted to give Kost Tire a 90-day extension to complete its land development plan because there are a number of unresolved issues.
The proposed location for Kost Tire is adjacent to the former Rave Garden Center on Memorial Highway.
The board also voted to:
• Approve an agreement between the township and the Anthracite Scenic Trails Association. The association plans to rebuild the retaining wall along the back of the Trucksville Volunteer Fire Co.
• Approve the 2008 budgeted donations to the Back Mountain Memorial Library in the amount of $4,000 and to the S.P.C.A. in the amount of $2,000.
• Announced the annual yard waste and bagged leaf pick-up program is under way and will continue through Nov. 21.
