AVOCA – Borough Council will meet Thursday, Nov. 12 in the municipal building for its regular session immediately after the 6:30 p.m. work session.
Also, Avoca yard waste will be collected Nov. 17, weather permitting. The following separated items will be collected: grass clippings and leaves (may be in same container); yard waste, including shrubs, hedge clippings and tree limbs, not exceeding 3 feet in length and a � inch in diameter. Rocks, stones, dirt and animal waste are not acceptable forms of yard waste.
A maximum of three open containers not to exceed 30 pounds will be allowed per collection. Plastic bags will be refused. Containers are to be placed at curbside by 8 a.m. The recycling center will not accept grass and leaves that are combined with yard waste.
WARRIOR RUN – Borough Tax Collector Mary Ann Brodginski reminds residents that Monday is the end of the face period for the Hanover Area School District taxes. After this date, the school taxes will be in penalty and can be paid at the tax office until Dec. 15.
Also, the second payment is due on the same date for anyone paying partial payments.
The county/borough taxes are in penalty and can be paid at the tax office until Dec. 31. To make an appointment, call the tax office at 825-4043.
LUZERNE – The borough budget meeting 6 p.m. Nov. 18 in the borough building, 144 Academy St.
PLYMOUTH – Residents are reminded that the borough requires an occupancy permit for people to inhabit any residential dwelling located within the borough, including rental properties.
The cost of an occupancy permit is $25.
Residents and landlords may apply for an occupancy permit at the borough administrative office at 162 W. Shawnee Ave. during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
Upon making an application, an inspection of the premises will be scheduled by the code enforcement officer. Residents or landlords having questions about the occupancy permit requirement may contact the borough administrative office at 779-1011 or the code enforcement officer at 779-4901.
KINGSTON TWP. – The township board of supervisors has announced the yard waste/bagged leaf pick up has been scheduled for Monday through Nov. 20.
Residents are advised to have yard waste and bagged leaves placed at the curbside for pickup. Yard waste consists of sticks and twigs bundled 3 feet in length, 1 foot high and 1 foot wide. Limit is two bundles and large limbs will not be accepted.
Township crews will be conducting the pickup 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The township asks residents not to sweep leaves into gutters and roadways to prevent the storm drains from becoming blocked. Township ordinance also prohibits this practice as well as the burning of leaves.

PRINGLE – The West Side Career and Technical Center PTSA will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school library.
Parents from the following districts are invited to attend: Dallas, Lake-Lehman, Wyoming Area, Northwest Area and Wyoming Valley West. The meeting was moved from Monday because of Veterans Day.
