Muroski asks state for help

WILKES-BARRE -- Luzerne County President Judge Chester Muroski has asked the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts to assign any senior judges available to assist the county court system with jury trials.

The request comes after federal prosecutors announced charges against Luzerne County Judge Michael Toole for honest services fraud and filing a false income tax return. Toole was removed from judicial responsibilities immediately by Muroski, leaving the bench short four judges.

"I have spoken with my remaining colleagues and while we are all extremely dissapointed with these recent developments, we are, once again, committed to making a total effort to maintain the business and function of the Luzerne County Court," Muroski said at a press conference at the court house.
