Ethel Pollack, 100, of Plains Township, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, in Manor Care Med. Bridge, Kingston.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Gertie Lebowitz Levy and was a graduate of GAR High School.
Ethel was employed as a manager for Jo Bell Hats and was a member of the former United Orthodox Synagogue, the former Bnai Jacob Synagogue, Congregation Ohav Zedek, the Jewish Community Center and other civic and religious organizations.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1991; brothers, Albert Levy, Louis Levy, Mike Levy; and sister, Thelma Morgan.
She is survived by daughter, Phylis Fischer, Plains Township; grandsons, Stuart Fischer and his wife, Sheri, Vienna, Va., and Gary Fischer and his wife, Margaret, Pittsburgh; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Dov and Ana; nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff of Manor Care and Heartland Hospice for their compassion and kindness.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel Inc., 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Raphael Nemetsky officiating. Interment will follow in B’nai Jacob Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Shiva will be observed from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at 604 Wildflower Drive, Plains Township.
