Pittston Area school board member charged with accepting bribe

SCRANTON - Pittston Area School Board member Joseph Oliveri was charged this morning by federal prosecutors with accepting a bribe in exchange for influencing the awarding of a contract.

The U.S. Attorney's office filed a single count of corrupt receipt of a reward for official action against Oliveri, who resigned his position on the board effective Sunday. Prosecutors say Oliveri accepted between $1,000 to $5,000 from an unnamed contractor in January.
