Pittston man charged with raping young girl

Police allege man had intercourse with child more than 15 times when she was between 9 and 11 years old.

WILKES-BARRE – A Pittston man was arraigned Tuesday on charges he raped and had inappropriate contact with a now-13-year-old girl during a three-year period.

Kevin Goble Sr., 29, of 30 Chapel St., was arraigned by District Judge William Amesbury on charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child and three counts of indecent assault.

According to court papers, Goble sexually assaulted the girl more than 15 times while she was between the ages of 9 and 11.

Pittston police said they received a report from Luzerne County Children and Youth Services regarding the abuse.

The girl said Goble sexually assaulted her during the spring and summer months. She said he would come into her room and she would wake up to find him next to her with his hands down her pants.

The girl said Goble had sexual intercourse with her when she was 9, and she performed a sex act on him between the ages of 10 and 11.

Police said Goble denied having intercourse or any other inappropriate contact with the girl.

Goble told police he tried to get the girl away from him, but couldn’t.

Goble is being held on $50,000 straight bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. in Pittston.
